Yoga Teacher Training – October 2024 to April 2025
** Yoga Therapy Toronto is officially a Registered Yoga School (RYS-200 hr) by Yoga Alliance.
Also, Yoga Therapy Toronto is a member school of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) and is accredited by IAYT as one of the few accredited Yoga Therapist training schools in the world.**
UPDATE: We plan on having all module sessions in person at the studio. However, should restrictions about gathering prevent us from meeting, then we will look to postpone certain dates. We are not planning on having any module sessions online over zoom.
Yoga Therapy Toronto offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines the ancient wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda with Modern Science. The foundation of this program is based on the respected teachings of yoga master T.Krishnamacharya, as received directly from his son Sir TKV Desikachar and other teachers in this tradition, along with an integration of western Psychology and Therapy.
Both Ante Pavlovic and Felicia Pavlovic have trained directly in the Krishnamacharya and Desikachar lineage in Chennai, India every year for over two decades and we have been training hundreds of Yoga Teachers in Toronto, Canada since 2007.
This 300+ hour training will delve into both the SCIENCE (ie: the various tools and techniques) and the ART (ie: how to apply the tools; when to apply the tools; when not to apply certain techniques, etc.) of practicing and teaching yoga.
Your interest in this training may lie in exploring your personal development and deepening your practice of yoga. Furthermore, if you wish to pursue becoming a Certificatied Yoga Teacher (CYT), you are required to fulfill all academic and non-academic requirements.
This journey may be viewed as a three-step process emphasizing:
a) personal development
b) becoming a competent Yoga Instructor grounded in classical yoga techniques and their modifications for every individual
c) evolving into a Yoga Teacher/Therapist who can safely and effectively guide others on their personal journeys
Personal Development
The primary focus will be on each individual’s Personal Development. We respect the fact that we all have different starting points and we all evolve at different rates. As we often say: “Information + Integration = Transformation” and in order for true transformation to occur, we need to nurture our connection with the appropriate practices and relationships.
Yoga Instructor
Another key component of this training is to learn, and properly understand, the various tools and techniques Yoga has to offer. Each student will learn how to appropriately apply these teachings for their own personal practice and learn how to safely guide others.
Yoga Teacher and/or Yoga Therapist
Going one step beyond the level of Instructor, a Teacher is someone who has embodied the teaching in an experiential manner and is able to share that embodied learning with others in a way that is appropriate to that student. Only through your own ongoing learning, practice, mentorship and evolution will you be prepared for the time when students will look to you for instruction, guidance and support.
program benefits
Mentorship
The student-teacher relationship lays the foundations for learning. In this course, each student has a mentor who provides support and advice throughout the training, with an emphasis on cultivating a healthy Student-Teacher relationship based on respect, faith and trust. In addition, for those graduates who are interested in continuing with their studies, Yoga Therapy Toronto offers ongoing mentorship to assist and aid each student along their personal and professional paths.
Personal Attention
This course’s strength lies in the personal attention and guidance each student receives for their personal and professional development and offers two-full-time teachers in class at all times for greater personal attention.
Community
An opportunity to participate and engage in a spiritual community of like-minded and open-hearted yoga practitioners. The program is designed to nurture your development and transformation on a personal level, as well as with your fellow community of students.
Weekend Residential Retreat
An opportunity to explore and deeply experience the therapeutic tools of yoga. This retreat will be held at a residential retreat centre (located in nature about a 1.5 hour drive from Yoga Therapy Toronto and the retreat is already included in the fees).
Assisting Internship
Once we feel the student is ready, we offer a 1 month Assisting Internship at our centre where each student will get an opportunity to assist a drop-in group class. This enables the student to refine and enhance their ability to work with the general public.
Opportunity to Teach Community Karma Classes / Volunteer Outreach
Once we feel the student is ready, we offer an opportunity to teach one of the weekly drop-in community karma classes at our centre, as well as the opportunity to volunteer teach as part of our Community Outreach Program.
Comprehensive Knowledge
